The rest of Spring Break

On Thursday, we packed a picnic and took a friend to the DeKalb-Peachtree airport. We LOVE this airport! The boys played on the playground and watched the planes take off and land.
I love this pic of them looking at the helicopter coming in while they were on the monkey bars
Then we walked over to the runway
Before heading back over to the bleachers to watch the planes landing
The boys view from the bleachers
We hadn't been down to the airport in a while so it was a great trip!
Friday was cold and WINDY! We spent the majority of the morning at home bouncing on the bounce house in the basement and playing Legos and cars. In the afternoon, we were planning to take the bikes to Bogan but since the weather was a little breezy we decided to just go play for an hour. We started at the little playground and had everything to ourselves!
Then we headed down to the big playground for a little while.
Everyone had a great time, and it was a wonderful way to end a relaxing Spring Break!

More from Mimi's - Caden and his big boy bike!

On Sunday after church, we went to lunch then came home to play on the playground.
On Monday, we had a very relaxing morning then went out to wash the cars and ride bikes. Caden finally decided he wanted to ride a bike without training wheels and since he has been riding a balance bike for the last year, it only took 2 tries and he was off and going!

And Ethan is extremely proficient on the bike that he got for his birthday last summer! They had a great time riding at Mimi's.
On Tuesday, Caden practiced some more and completely got the hang of getting off and on as well as getting started by himself. So proud of this kiddo for doing it all by himself!
Then, unfortunately Wednesday came and we had to head back to Georgia. We had a fantastic 5 days with Mimi :-)

Spring Break at Mimi's - McWane Science Center

We have had a wonderful Spring Break! Daddy had to work but the boys and I started out at Mimi's. We met her on Saturday at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. It was A-Mazing! The boys have been to many children's museums before but this was one of the best we have ever visited!

They started out giving the weather forecast on the green screen. They loved seeing themselves on TV.
Then it was on to the Itty-Bitty City where there were all sorts of activities waiting for them!
Water activities...
 Suction activities...
 Conveyor belt
Gravity in motion
 Hands-on garage
They had a blast changing tires
 And fixing the muffler
They also replaced the battery and tuned up under the hood
Then it was on to the Vet's office
 The fire station
And the garden
Then Caden found his little piece of heaven....a HUGE train track
After that it was time to outrun the dinosaurs
 And dig for fossils
Then they became scientists and studied slides under a large microscope
 And geologists to study rocks
Slid down the 2 story slide
And somehow manipulated these blobs with their hands on a screen. I still haven't figured out how this one worked!
After that, they created sand patterns on a spinning turntable
And made designs on a giant Lite-Bright....I so remember these from my childhood!
Then we headed to the lower level to the Touch and Feel Shark Tank
Where, of course, Ethan had a million questions :-)
And back upstairs to the giant bubble room
And virtual reality game station where Caden loved playing the drums
Then they took a break to have a dance party
Before bouncing a tennis ball to a target on the ceiling
Then Ethan found an air hose and ball to demonstrate the science of flight
until he figured out that he could use the hose to make the ball fly anywhere
Then Ethan took a little break to play some basketball
And they practiced with a gravity wheel until Ethan ran the wheel over Caden's finger...
And had to sit in Time Out
After time out, Ethan tried to lift his weight
We played with a few more things at the McWane Center and spent some time in another children's playground inside the center before heading to dinner at the mall. They finished up with ice cream and a ride on the carousel to celebrate their special day with Mimi.
What a fantastic start to Spring Break!
