Our Story

My photo
Ben and I met in 1996, began dating in 1999 and married in 2001. Now 20 years and 2 children later, we have returned to where our life together began. Ben works for the Federal Reserve and I have the privilege of staying home with our two precious boys.

Fort Friday and Witch's Hats

Last Friday was Fort Friday!
We LOVE Fridays! It is the only day of the week that we are not up and running; Monday through Thursday is school, Saturdays are soccer, and Sundays are church.

The living room became the play area for the morning and although I didn't take a picture we added a tunnel out of the side of our fort and the boys had a blast bringing their toys inside it and playing!
After lunch, we decided to make witch's hats. What a super easy and quick activity to do with little ones that have NO attention span! They loved making them and we were finished before I could lose their attention :-)

Did I mention that Friday was my favorite day of the week???

Ethan's Black Eye

Ethan lost the battle and the slide won.
The result...
 A black eye...
although it looks pretty good in this picture

And of course, it was school picture week

Buford Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend, we made our annual visit to the Buford Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. Although we never do the corn maze, there are always a ton of other things that we do like to do while we are there. Unfortunately or fortunately for us, it was 85 degrees and hot but that meant we pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was so warm they couldn't even wear pumpkin shirts this year. Thankfully, the weather has cooled off since then.

And of course, we always make multiple attempts at a good fall pumpkin picture.
The one below was the best one of the day...it would have been nice if Caden had smiled but I'll take what I can get :-)
First attempt...
Ethan: "Look Mom, it's a pumpkin!"
Caden: "Ewwww, I don't like this hay"
 Next stop, the pony ride...
It was awesome to have Mimi go with us this year!

We skipped the bounce house, so next up was our favorite...the hay ride!

 Love this picture!!!
Checking out the sights from the hay ride
After that, we checked out the farm animals...
Piglets
 Bunnies and Hens
 Goat
 Calf
Then another attempt at a fall pumpkin picture...
And finally, getting to pick out our pumpkins!
Caden decided he wanted a little white one this year instead of a traditional pumpkin.

Until next year!

First Field Trip...sniff sniff

Last week Ethan went on his very first field trip. All too suddenly, I realized that my little boy was growing up. Field Trips!! He is not old enough to ride on a bus! Ugghhh...let's just say tears were shed as I put him on the bus and waved goodbye as it pulled out of the parking carrying my precious boy.
Beyond that, I was super excited for him because his very first field trip was perfect! It was a visit to the Southeastern Railway Museum. They spent the day getting to climb on acres and acres of different types of trains that spanned across the decades culminating in a train ride around the grounds. I had previously purchased a membership to the museum but I have been holding off on taking the boys because I knew this field trip was coming up and I wanted his first experience to be with his classmates.

He had a wonderful time and I survived the day :-)

Soccer is in full swing!

Our little number 8 is participating in his first season of soccer. With practice every Tuesday and games on Saturdays, it has become part of our routine. Ethan has come a long way from the beginning of the season and is doing much better at assisting his teammates and handling the ball. Spring registration has already begun and while we haven't yet signed him up, I am hoping that this high energy sport is a keeper!

Although this was a frequent scene the first half of the season now there is much less standing around watching his team do all of the work...much to this Mommy's relief.

Dance Party

One random weekend a few weeks ago, some little friends put on a dance party for us in the living room. The kids worked up a sweat, had a blast, and a good nights sleep was had by all :-0 It was a night that will not be soon forgotten!

Since I was using my phone, the pictures aren't the best quality due to constant movement.

Fun times!
