For the last year(no kidding, a WHOLE year), we have been excitedly anticipating the release of the movie Planes. Ethan had not ever been to a movie theater and we decided that this would be the perfect first movie for him to see. Now, if you know Ethan, he is great with new experiences as long as he doesn't ever have any new experiences...AKA great with change as long as there is no change(kind of like someone else I know ;-) So while he was excited to see the movie, there was some anxiety about the theater itself. Ben and I spent the month before the opening telling him what it would look like and sound like inside the theater to try to set his expectations.
Opening night was Friday so we decided the Saturday morning matinee
would be the best time for him to go since the theater wouldn't be as
crowded. He was great until we arrived at the mall. Then the trepidation began as well as a few tears. Remarkably, though, we made it past the fears and he actually walked into the theater on his own. It was the PERFECT experience for him and it couldn't have gone better! He had a blast, LOVED the movie, drank some lemonade, and had some popcorn.
We didn't get the best pictures since the theater was dark, but he can't wait to go back!
