We arrived at the beach house around 1 am. The boys were asleep in their seats so we unloaded, then got them changed and in bed. The next morning we ate breakfast, then loaded up the beach wagon and cooler and walked across the street. It only took us about 5 minutes to set everything set up for the day. While we set up, the boys played in the sand. Caden then decided he did not like the sand and decided to come hang out under the canopy. That is one thing that has not changed about him. He pretty had the same opinion on our last beach trip. He and the sand are not friends. He was a good sport though and made the best of it.
Ethan, on the other hand, loved the water and rolling around in the sand. He had to best time "snorkeling" with a face mask checking out what was under the sea.
That afternoon, the boys decided to start work on a sand castle. With short attention spans, though, the novelty soon wore off and they moved on to other things :-)
Lisa's beach house has a private pool so they spent as much time in it as they did in the ocean and they loved every minute of it! I must admit, I think her pool is pretty awesome too!
After dinner that night and an evening swim, the boys went to bed to get ready for our next day at the beach. The next morning, we headed over to St. Andrew's State Park after breakfast. It was AMAZING! The water was so clear you could see the bottom and there were fish everywhere. Ethan and Ben truly spent their day exploring the creatures under the sea. A natural jetty surrounded the area where we set up and it was spectacular. The water was shallow and calm. It was a very relaxing day at the beach. Caden loved "swimming" in his puddle jumper.
Here is Ethan's head and body as he swims across the water below. This was about the only position I saw him in the whole day. He was in heaven!
While Ethan did his thing, Ben and Caden looked for shells
Then they decided to head over toward the rocks to see what they could find over there. I swam out there with them. It was such a neat place!
Another very cool thing for our boys to see were the ships that passed through the waterway just beyond the jetty. This is an experimental Navy combat ship with a twin hull. It looked almost like it had pontoons.
Then this container ship passed by
A little later Ethan came up to get the shovel
I think he had decided to try to find crabs under the sand
Caden and I hung out while Daddy and Ethan searched for sea life
That evening we ate dinner at Captain Anderson's
After dinner the boys found this cannon and then we checked out the boats in the marina
Followed by a round of Putt-Putt. Ethan and Ben both did well...
And before the game was over Caden finally figured out how to gently hit the ball...
but Mommy won the game ;-)
