Our Story

My photo
Ben and I met in 1996, began dating in 1999 and married in 2001. Now 20 years and 2 children later, we have returned to where our life together began. Ben works for the Federal Reserve and I have the privilege of staying home with our two precious boys.

New Year's Eve at the Farm

Since we were at the farm for New Year's, we got to have our own fireworks display. Grandad, Daddy, and the boys went out New Year's Eve to purchase their selections, then after dinner they created their own show.
Grandad, Daddy, and Uncle John started off with bottle rockets
Then Grandad made sure everyone had sparklers. Ethan has ALWAYS been afraid of fireworks so I am thrilled that he actually participated and was excited to see them this year!
Ethan loved it and even helped Grandad hold the Roman candles

Caden attempted to hang in there and big brother tried to be the protector(I tried not to fall over in shock)

But ultimately the trend continued and Caden decided it was much safer watching from the sun room
Love the awe on their little faces!
Then it was time for bath and bed!
Granny had mentioned letting the boys pick some oranges from the tree, so the next morning Ethan was quick to remind us that that was the first thing we had to do after breakfast.

Then Grandpa rode up on the mule and they hopped in to go see the bull in a different pasture.
After a final ride, our visit ended all too soon and we had to load up for our long drive home. I have fond memories of spending summers on the farm when I was a little girl and I am so happy to be able to share this same experience with Ethan and Caden! They are building memories that will last a lifetime.

New Year's at the Farm

We were so excited to finally make a visit to the farm down at Grandad's and stay with Granny & Grandpa! We celebrated a belated Christmas with them and the boys got to enjoy the farm to it's fullest...at least Ethan did. Caden was more interested in spectating for the most part.

The boys sported their special embroidered tractor shirts made by our wonderful Ms. Betty for the occasion, so I definitely wanted to make sure we had pictures with Grandad
And Grandpa!
Then they checked out all of the tractors in Grandpa's tractor books
And had a blast chasing Saban(can you guess where his name came from?) around and watching  Granny get him to jump in the air
Then it was time to open presents! Tractors!!!

Granny and Grandpa opened their gifts from the boys
and the boys gave Thank-You hugs

Daddy and Grandad worked on putting together the Matchbox Link Together City while Ethan tested out Grandad's work boots
The next morning little cousin Callie showed the boys ABCMouse.com.
LOVE her arm around Ethan! So sweet!
Then it was time to ride! First, the front end loader
Ethan was amazed that Grandad scooped and dumped while he rode!
And this is as close as Caden wanted to be
Then the tractor!
Grandad was extremely brave and actually let Ethan drive!
And again, here is Caden. It was a cold day so we opened up the back of the car for him to watch the action.
After taking a few rides, we headed down to feed Payton some carrots with Granny
And Grandad finally convinced Caden that it was ok to get closer to him

But you can tell who Payton's favorite person is :-)
After feeding the horse, Grandpa took Ethan and Callie on a ride in the mule across the creek
Then we headed back up to the house
But Grandpa decided to take a bale of hay to the cows so Ethan got to ride along
And Grandad, Daddy, & Caden hopped in the farm truck to meet them over there
That evening, the boys went down to Grandad's chicken houses to pet baby chicks

Whew, what an amazing day! They had a blast!
